In 2020, Chinese New Year will fall on January 25th and last until February 8th, ringing the beginning of the Year of the Rat. Typically, Chinese make the most of this 2-week holiday break to travel abroad, in the APAC region or even further, in Europe.
For retailers, this period has become an essential event in their calendar. In 2018, Chinese New Year sales reached a record high 1.01 trillion yuan ($149 billion). Yet, this was the smallest sales growth recorded since 2011.
